Privacy policy
Effective 1 November 2026
Flaca doesn't collect your data. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your words and study progress stay on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage, which we can't read.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into Flaca is stored on your device: your words, translations, example sentences and notes, your review history and your settings. It isn't sent to us.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud, Flaca uses Apple's iCloud to sync your words, study progress and most settings between your devices, and to restore them if you reinstall the app. This data is kept in your private iCloud database, which belongs to your Apple Account. We have no access to it. Daily reminder settings stay on each device and aren't synced.
Apple handles iCloud data under Apple's privacy policy. If you aren't signed in to iCloud, your data stays only on your device.
On-device AI
On devices with Apple Intelligence, Flaca can suggest translations, word forms, example sentences and memory hooks, and help judge typed answers. This uses Apple's on-device model. It runs entirely on your device: the words you study are not sent to us, to Apple, or to anyone else. You can turn it off under Settings → Assistant.
Speech and notifications
Words are read aloud with your device's built-in voices, on the device. Daily reminders are scheduled on your device. Flaca asks for permission to send notifications only when you turn reminders on.
Word packs
Downloading word packs is the only time Flaca connects to a server of its own accord, and only after you enter a pack server's address. The app then asks that server for its list of packs for the language you're learning and for any updates to the packs you've installed. It sends no personal information, words or progress. Like any web request, the server can see your IP address and basic technical details, such as your device's operating system version.
Anyone can run a pack server. If you connect to one run by someone else, their own privacy practices apply.
For the pack server at this site: the server software doesn't record who downloads packs or keep a log of IP addresses. Our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs for security and reliability. We don't use them to identify you, and we don't share them.
This website
This site doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers. The password-protected editor that pack authors use sets one cookie to keep them signed in. When an editor asks for help filling in a word, that word is sent to an AI service. This happens only in the editor and never involves data from the app.
Children
Flaca doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
- Delete words in the app, or delete all of them under Settings → Data → Delete all words.
- Clear your review history under Settings → Data → Reset all progress.
- Remove everything from iCloud by deleting Flaca's data under iCloud storage in your device's Settings app, then deleting the app.
- Stop syncing by turning off iCloud for Flaca in your device's Settings app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
